Baltimore County police said Monday that Zachary Thomas, 35, had been located after a critical missing-person alert identified him as missing from the Pikesville area. The department thanked people who shared the alert.
“#UPDATE: Zachary has been located. Thank you for sharing,” the Baltimore County Police Department
wrote in a post Monday afternoon. Police did not say where or when Thomas was found or provide information about his condition.
The department's alert said Thomas was last seen in the Pikesville area. It described him as 35, 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 320 pounds, and said he was wearing a brown and white plaid shirt with blue jeans.
How the Alert Asked the Public to Respond
Before Thomas was located, the department's critical missing-person alert asked anyone who saw him to call 911 or the department line at 4101-887-1279.
Reporting Missing-Person Cases
Maryland State Police says there is no waiting period to report a missing person in Maryland.
National figures offer context, but do not describe Thomas's case: according to the FBI's 2023 NCIC report, 563,389 missing-person records were entered and 563,644 were purged that year. Purges can include records of people located or returned home, as well as records determined to be invalid.
Police have not released further details about the search or Thomas's circumstances.
