A masked suspect caught on camera making off with an air-conditioning coil worth roughly $1,400 has Pryor Creek police asking the public for help putting a name to a face they can't quite see. The theft happened in the 800 block of Wood Street in Pryor, and investigators say it took place about three weeks before they went public with the request.

According to News On 6, the Pryor Creek Police Department is asking for help identifying the person accused of the theft. Police Chief Jeremy Cantrell said in a social media post that the incident happened about three weeks before the department's public appeal went out, according to the same report.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect wearing a dark blue long-sleeve shirt featuring a distinctive mountain-and-tree design, paired with a baseball cap and a gray face covering that obscured most identifying features, the station reported. Anyone who recognizes the clothing or the person is asked to call the Pryor Creek Police Department at 918-825-1212, or reach out to Chief Cantrell directly through his Facebook page.

A Pattern of Pryor Creek Property Crimes

A separate incident reported by KTUL on December 4, 2024, involved a larceny report at Meltons AC & Appliance Service early one Wednesday morning. That report described a white truck pulling a trailer loaded with old air-conditioning units, which Mayes County deputies spotted and stopped.

Deputies found Richard Winter and Dale Littlefield inside the vehicle, and both men were later taken into custody, KTUL reported. They were booked into jail on charges of theft of copper.

Not the First Time Police Have Asked Pryor to Keep an Eye Out

Pryor Creek police have turned to the public for leads before. In another case detailed by KTUL, officers sought public assistance identifying a suspect caught on camera stealing a purse from a booth inside a Braums restaurant around 10:16 p.m. on a Monday, Dec. 1. Anyone with information in that case was asked to contact the department at the same number, (918) 825-1212, that investigators are now using for the AC coil theft.

For now, the identity of the person seen walking off with the air-conditioning coil remains unknown, and police have not released any additional details beyond the clothing description and the Wood Street location. The department's appeal leans on the same tool that has worked for it before — public tips sparked by a clear look at what a suspect was wearing when the cameras caught them.
