Part of a Rising Tide of Robberies in the 110th Precinct

The Elmhurst robbery lands amid a broader climb in violent crime across the 110th Precinct, which covers the neighborhood. Through Sept. 13, the precinct had logged 304 robberies for the year, 20 more than the 284 reported by the same point in 2025, a 7% increase, according to QNS. Felony assaults climbed even faster over that same stretch, with 488 reported compared to 414 a year earlier, a jump of nearly 18%, the outlet reported.

A separate account from Hoodline, tracking the precinct through Oct. 18, found felony assaults had reached 560, up 15.1% from 490 over the same period the previous year. That same report put robberies at 346, compared with 334 through Oct. 18 the previous year, a 3.4% increase.

Other Recent Elmhurst and Corona Robberies

The Oct. 20 attack is not the only recent robbery to hit the neighborhood. Hoodline previously reported that a 28-year-old man was struck in the head with a baseball bat after fighting back against two suspects trying to rob him near Case Street and Elmhurst Avenue; those attackers fled without his wallet. QNS also detailed an Aug. 21 armed robbery in Elmhurst in which a victim's fanny pack, containing roughly $2,000 in cash and his passport, was taken.

Further east in Corona, QNS reported an earlier case in which a suspect allegedly slashed a 37-year-old man across the hand with a knife before forcibly removing his wallet.

For now, the man who punched the victim and ran off with his wallet remains unidentified. Police have not said whether the victim was injured or required medical attention, nor have they released details on how much cash was in the stolen wallet.
