South Coast Plaza’s recent luxury additions provide a wider retail context for the Rick Owens opening. The Orange County Business Journal reported that the center added Jessica McCormack, Tom Ford and a new Tiffany & Co. boutique this year, and that Schiaparelli was planned as a year-end addition. The center recorded $2.7 billion in taxable sales for the 12 months ended June 30, the Business Journal reported. The Orange County Register later reported that Schiaparelli’s boutique is set to open in December.

Rick Owens has opened a 2,306-square-foot boutique at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, WWD reported, giving the label its first Orange County store. The shop carries the designer’s fall 2026 men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections and pieces from his home line, according to WWD.

The boutique includes concrete prong sculptures that had been displayed in the Palais Galliera courtyard in Paris as part of the 2025 exhibition “Rick Owens: Temple of Love,” WWD reported. The Paris Musées exhibition page says Owens designed 30 brutalist-style cement sculptures for the museum garden.

Owens grew up in California, founded his label in Los Angeles in the 1990s and moved to Paris in 2003, according to WWD. The outlet also reported that the business includes ready-to-wear, footwear, furniture and home design. In addition to a Los Angeles boutique on North La Brea Avenue, WWD listed U.S. stores in New York, Miami and Las Vegas, and international locations in Paris, Milan, Berlin, Ibiza, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Tokyo.
