The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts is throwing open its doors this Saturday for its 2026 Stars Over Texas Benefit Concert, with singer-songwriter Ryan Bingham and The Texas Gentlemen set to headline the 8 p.m. show. Every dollar raised goes toward the center's Generation NEXT Education Initiative and its broader community outreach efforts.

The November 7 concert is a performance and fundraiser. The evening doubles as both a performance and a fundraiser, with Bingham and his band taking the stage as the night's centerpiece act. WOAI featured Michael Fresher and Seymour Battle III, who appeared together to give viewers a preview of the concert ahead of Saturday's event.

What Generation NEXT Actually Funds

Generation NEXT is the engine behind the benefit concert's fundraising push. The program is designed to remove barriers to the arts and, per the Tobin Center's education page, offers inclusive and diverse artistic and educational opportunities to students, teachers, and artists around Bexar County and beyond.

That training got a boost earlier this year when philanthropist Harvey E. Najim renewed his multi-year commitment to Generation NEXT in February, specifically to support arts-integration training for teachers throughout Bexar County.

Free Tickets Through Charlie's Seats

Beyond the classroom work, the Tobin Center also runs a ticket-access program called Charlie's Seats, which provides complimentary performance tickets to student groups and nonprofit or community organizations serving under-resourced students. The initiative got a major financial lift when benefactor Susan Naylor pledged $2.5 million to support it, according to the San Antonio Report.

A Different Kind of Benefit Night

Saturday's show isn't the Tobin Center's first benefit concert in recent memory, though the cause is different this time around. Last year, the venue hosted a Together for Texas concert alongside the Kerrville Folk Festival and Arcadia Live Theater, raising money for Hill Country communities hit by catastrophic flooding, as reported by BroadwayWorld. That August 2025 show took place at the Tobin Center's H-E-B Performance Hall, with proceeds directed to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund managed by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, and reserved tickets starting at $75 alongside a $35 general-admission option for a live simulcast.

This weekend's Stars Over Texas concert instead keeps its focus squarely on arts education, with Ryan Bingham & The Texas Gentlemen drawing a crowd to benefit Generation NEXT.
