A 57-year-old Schenectady man will spend the next 15 years in federal prison after admitting he sold methamphetamine and cocaine across the city, including at a playground, while illegally keeping firearms in his home. Emery Moore was also ordered to serve four years of supervised release once he gets out.
According to NEWS10 ABC, the sentence closes out a case that began with a guilty plea in May. Moore admitted to distributing methamphetamine, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possessing a firearm as a felon, as a separate NEWS10 report on his plea detailed.
Drugs Sold Near Home and Playground
Court records cited in the same report state that Moore sold methamphetamine and cocaine in Schenectady on five separate occasions between March and July 2025. Those sales took place at multiple locations around the city, the outlet noted, including at his own home and at a playground.
The playground sales drew a pointed response from local law enforcement. Schenectady Police Chief Whipple said, “Selling dangerous drugs in our community is unacceptable, but doing so on a playground where children should feel safe is especially disturbing. Let this sentence serve as a warning: if you bring drugs and illegal firearms into Schenectady, we will find you.”
Guns, Ammunition and Cocaine Found in Home Search
DEA agents executed a search warrant at Moore’s home in July 2025. The search turned up three guns, 50 rounds of ammunition and 91 grams of cocaine that he intended to sell, the station’s report states.
Moore was barred from having any of those firearms or the ammunition in the first place. Federal law prohibited him from possessing guns and ammunition because of prior felony convictions, including state drug and gun offenses, per the same account. As part of his plea, Moore agreed to forfeit or abandon the firearms and ammunition seized during the search.
Part of a Broader Pattern of Federal Cases in Schenectady
Moore’s case is not an isolated one in the Schenectady federal court docket. Christopher Garrow, 40, also of Schenectady, was sentenced to 140 months in prison after pleading guilty to distributing methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine while also possessing a firearm in furtherance of that drug trafficking, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, Northern District of New York.
Two Schenectady brothers, Jalen Parker and Juwan Parker, also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine base before United States District Judge Anne M. Nardacci, according to the FBI Albany field office. Moore himself faces a four-year term of supervised release once his 15-year sentence is complete.
