A tip that first surfaced in December 2025 has ended with a 27-year-old Secaucus man behind bars, accused of possessing and distributing a video depicting child sexual abuse. Thomas J. Hindle Jr. was arrested Tuesday following a search of his home on Schopmann Drive, and he now faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
According to Daily Voice, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said the investigation began in December 2025, when police received a tip that an image depicting child sexual abuse material had been uploaded from a storage device registered to Hindle. Detectives spent the following months building the case before investigators determined that Hindle possessed and distributed the video, per Miller.
Court-Authorized Search Leads to Arrest
The Secaucus Police Detective Division executed a court-authorized search of Hindle's home on Nov. 3, the same day of his arrest, the outlet's report notes. Investigators seized several electronic devices and hard drives belonging to Hindle during that search, per the same account. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office and New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children units assisted in the search, according to the report.
Hindle was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and was lodged in the Hudson County Jail. Chief Miller said the Secaucus Police Department will continue to hunt anyone who victimizes our most vulnerable population, our children, by exploiting them on the internet. Investigators say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
Not the First Such Case in Secaucus
This is not the first time Secaucus police have traced online child sexual abuse material back to a local address. In June 2024, the department began investigating a tip that an image depicting such material had been uploaded or stored on a device registered to 64-year-old Dominic Gravina of Secaucus, according to a statement from the Secaucus Police Department. That investigation culminated in a court-authorized search of Gravina's Koelle Boulevard residence on Sept. 4, 2024, assisted by the New Jersey State Police I.C.A.C. Unit, during which several electronic devices were seized. Gravina was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and was released pending a court appearance under Criminal Justice Reform guidelines, with police noting the investigation was ongoing and additional charges might follow.
A separate case that same year involved a 15-year-old Secaucus resident. Police began investigating in September 2024 after a tip involving child sexual abuse material uploaded to Snapchat, X, and Telegram, according to a Secaucus Police Department announcement. Investigators said the teen possessed more than 900 images and videos depicting child sexual abuse material and was trading them with other people. That investigation led to a search warrant executed at the juvenile's Harmon Cove Towers residence on Oct. 9, 2024, and the minor was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, with police again saying additional charges might follow.
No court docket, plea, or case outcome has been made public in the Hindle matter as of now. Secaucus investigators have said only that their work in this case continues.
