South Block, a smoothie and açaí bowl chain, is set to open at Bethesda Row. The opening adds another option to the popular Bethesda shopping and dining district, with fresh-pressed juices and loaded toast among the chain's offerings for local shoppers and gym-goers alike.
According to Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row, South Block is set to open at Bethesda Row. The chain is known for its smoothies, açaí bowls, fresh-pressed juices, and loaded avocado or banana toast, offerings that have made it a go-to stop for health-focused eaters in the DC area.
A Familiar Name for Montgomery County Shoppers
South Block isn't new to Montgomery County. The chain already operates a location at Pike & Rose in Rockville, a Federal Realty property, giving nearby residents a sense of what to expect when the Bethesda Row storefront eventually opens its doors.
That Pike & Rose shop made its own mark when it debuted, with rockvillenights.com reporting at the time that the location at 11803 Grand Park Avenue was set to be South Block's first Maryland outpost. Signage had gone up at that site ahead of the opening, the same outlet noted, specializing in the chain's signature smoothies, açaí bowls, fresh-pressed juices, and avocado or banana toast. A separate report from storereporter.com later said the Rockville location had opened next to Call Your Mother Deli at Pike & Rose.
Readers Weigh In on the Bethesda Row Buzz
Commenters on the Bethesda Row blog post were quick to react to the news. A commenter called South Block “a great concept” and predicted it would succeed on Bethesda Row. The commenter also said they had previously contacted South Block's customer service about menu items that had been made incorrectly, adding, “to their credit, they take care of us every time.”
No opening date for the Bethesda Row location has been confirmed, and the exact timeline for the storefront's debut remains unclear. South Block is set to bring another healthy-eating option to the busy retail corridor.
