Greensboro is heading into a wet, unsettled night after a warm, mostly cloudy Thursday that reached about 75 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more likely this evening and could continue into Friday morning, putting a damp spin on the start of the weekend.
Rain Builds Overnight
After only a slight chance of a shower Thursday afternoon, the forecast calls for a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight, with a low near 64. The greatest rain chances arrive late Thursday night and early Friday, with roughly a quarter to half an inch possible in the Greensboro area, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday Starts Wet, Then Clears
Friday stays mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms before 3 p.m. and a high near 70. The NWS Raleigh office says most locations should receive less than three-quarters of an inch, though isolated heavier pockets are possible; no watches or warnings are currently posted.
Sunny Weekend Follows
Conditions improve Friday night as skies clear and temperatures fall to around 48. Saturday should be sunny with a high near 63, followed by a chilly 39-degree low Saturday night, while Sunday brings more sun and a high near 64.
More Mild Days Ahead
The clear pattern is forecast to hold into next week, with highs near 69 Monday, 71 Tuesday and 68 on Veterans Day. For Friday morning, drivers should plan for wet roads, reduced visibility and a few rumbles of thunder before the weather settles down later in the day.
