Stout's Pizza Co. has closed its New Braunfels restaurant at 1850 Hwy. 46, Ste. 101, shutting the doors on Nov. 1 without any public explanation for why. The pizzeria, known locally for its pizza rolls, calzones, salads and specialty pizzas, still operates two other locations across San Antonio.
Word of the closure first surfaced when an employee at one of Stout's San Antonio locations told Community Impact that the New Braunfels restaurant had shut down. The company itself declined to comment on why the location closed by the time of that publication, leaving the reason for the shutdown unknown.
Community Impact's report, published Friday morning, notes that Stout's Pizza Co. still has two other locations in San Antonio. The outlet lists the two locations as 1742 N. Loop 1604 E., Ste. 123, and 7915 W. Loop 1604 N., Ste. 114, both in San Antonio.
A Growing Footprint Before the Closure
Stout's had been expanding its presence in the region. A separate report from CultureMap San Antonio described the chain as having grown to three locations — two in San Antonio and one in New Braunfels — around the time it signed on as the first tenant in the planned Encino Commons development at 21114 US Hwy. 281 in North San Antonio.
That CultureMap report detailed plans for a smaller, express-model Stout's inside Encino Commons, occupying a 1,758-square-foot space with a small patio. It is not clear from available reporting whether that project has moved forward or whether the New Braunfels closure has any bearing on those plans.
What's Next for the Hwy. 46 Location
The New Braunfels location has closed. Stout's Pizza Co. lists its menu and locations on its website, but the company has not publicly addressed the closure beyond declining to comment when asked by Community Impact.
