A search warrant served at a home on Woodlawn Avenue in Sumter County on Tuesday turned up roughly $400,000 worth of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine and other drugs, along with six firearms, authorities said. Two men, 30-year-old Alvin Reams and 28-year-old Devante' Wilson, both of Sumter, ignored commands from deputies and tried to run before they were caught, according to investigators.

Deputies with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office recovered 1,866 grams of methamphetamine — more than four pounds — along with 217.25 grams of fentanyl, 126 grams of cocaine, 146 grams of crack cocaine and 464.5 grams of marijuana, according to thestate.com. The search was carried out by the sheriff's Drug Unit and Sheriff's Emergency Response Team, as reported by WACH. Six guns were also seized from the home, per WIS News 10.

The station's report notes that Reams and Wilson tried to flee the area once deputies arrived, but were taken into custody after a brief chase. Both men now face multiple drug and weapon-related counts tied to the raid.

Trafficking Charges and Jail Status

Reams was charged with trafficking crack cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl, among other offenses, while Wilson faces two counts of trafficking crack cocaine plus additional drug and weapons charges, per the same account. As of Thursday, records show both men remained jailed at the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center.

No bond had been set for Wilson, who is scheduled to return to court Dec. 18, while information about Reams' bond was not available. Court records cited by thestate.com show Wilson was already out on bond from a September arrest on multiple drug charges, which remain pending.

Sheriff Points to Community Tips

“The investigation that resulted in these arrests began when we received complaints from the community,” Sheriff Anthony Dennis said, according to WACH. Dennis said the investigation is ongoing and that authorities expect more arrests.

Part of a Broader Pattern in Sumter County

This bust follows other recent drug cases in the county. In a separate case, deputies arrested Shannon Marie McLeod after searching her home and reported seizing drugs valued at about $47,470, including roughly 186.53 grams of methamphetamine, 42.63 grams of fentanyl, 16.38 grams of cocaine and 0.83 grams of crack cocaine, according to The Sumter Item.

A larger, multi-agency operation running from November 2025 through February of this year resulted in the seizure of $1.5 million in illegal drugs and $288,000 in cash, with 42 arrests made, including three wanted suspects, The Sumter Item reported. Twelve other agencies partnered with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office on that 90-day effort.
