A Texas-focused steakhouse chain known for mini elk tacos and chicken-fried steak is staking out ground in Cedar Park. Haywire plans to open its sixth Texas location at the sprawling CedarView development, with construction penciled in to run through most of 2027 and an opening targeted for later that year.
The news comes from Jami Sharp, communications head for FB Society, the Dallas-based hospitality group behind Haywire, according to Community Impact. Per that report, construction is expected to begin in eight to nine months, with an anticipated opening in late 2027. The Cedar Park restaurant would be Haywire's sixth location in Texas and its second in the Austin area, joining an existing outpost at 11501 Rock Rose Avenue in Austin's Domain Northside, which offers lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, according to WhatNow.
Details on the project's footprint have varied across reports. The Austin Business Journal described the planned restaurant as roughly 10,000 square feet back in June, while the Austin American-Statesman more recently put the project at 14,284 square feet with both covered and uncovered patio seating, at an address of 805 E. New Hope Drive. The discrepancy between the two figures has not been explained in available reporting.
A $5 Million Build With a Firm Construction Window
The Statesman reports the project carries an estimated price tag of $5 million, a figure that matches a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. That same filing, logged under project number TABS2026020499 and registered May 16, 2026, estimates the construction cost at $5 million, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Construction is expected to begin March 1 and wrap up by November 1, 2027, per the Statesman's reporting — timing that lines up with the eight-to-nine-month window Community Impact cited from Sharp.
No exact opening date has been set, WhatNow notes, leaving CedarView's timeline pegged to a season rather than a day for now. The 117-acre CedarView development is already under construction and is slated to include NFM, Scheels, a hotel, a convention center, additional stores, and restaurants, according to Community Impact's report. A Fogo de Chão is also planned nearby at 1005 E. New Hope Drive, a separate project the Statesman describes as a 10,178-square-foot, single-story restaurant estimated to cost $4.5 million.
Elk Tacos, Venison Chili, and a Whiskey-Soaked Pedigree
Haywire's menu leans into Texas food traditions, with dishes ranging from mini elk tacos and Gulf Coast ceviche to venison chili and chicken-fried steak, according to Community Impact. WhatNow's reporting adds that the broader menu also includes steaks, seafood, burgers, and sandwiches, with ingredients sourced across Texas and a bar pouring wine, whiskey, and cocktails.
The chain traces back to its first restaurant at 5901 Winthrop Street in Plano's Legacy West, which opened in 2017 and spans three floors with a whiskey lounge, dining room, and rooftop patio, per WhatNow. Haywire has since grown to five restaurants across Texas, with locations in Plano, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin. FB Society, the Dallas-based hospitality group behind the brand, is led by CEO Jack Gibbons and also owns Sixty Vines, Whiskey Cake, Mexican Sugar, and Ida Claire, according to WhatNow.
