A 73-year-old deli worker was punched in the face and left injured after three people robbed a Willoughby Street store in Brooklyn Wednesday morning, according to police. The NYPD says the trio took items from the shop before fleeing, and officers are still trying to track them down.
According to PIX11, the robbery happened around 9 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, at the deli. Police said the three individuals approached the worker inside the store, grabbed items off the shelves, and punched him in the face before leaving in an unknown direction.
EMS workers treated the man at the scene, but the NYPD has not released any update on his condition since then. The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have been announced.
Pattern of Deli Confrontations Across Brooklyn
The Willoughby Street attack is one of several recent incidents involving deli workers and robbers in Brooklyn, though the evidence does not tie them together as part of any coordinated spree. In Crown Heights, the same outlet reported that three people tried to swipe ice cream and a cellphone from a store on Franklin Avenue near Lincoln Place around 1:25 p.m. one Friday.
Separately, a 77-year-old man was shoved into a wall and robbed of his wallet near President Street and Bond Street on October 23 at approximately 3:59 p.m., according to the NYPD as reported by Shore News Network. In another case detailed by Audacy / 1010 WINS, two suspects entered Loyal Deli Food at 571 Van Siclen Ave. in East New York and displayed a firearm while stealing $500.
