A person was shot in the leg near Glen and 7th avenues in Troy on Monday evening, according to police, who say the suspect fled the scene before officers could arrive. The victim is expected to recover, with police describing the injuries as non-life-threatening.
Investigators were seen collecting evidence in the area Monday evening, according to WRGB, which first reported the shooting. Troy Police asked anyone with information to call (518) 270-4411, the outlet reported. No suspect description has been released, and the investigation remains active.
A separate account from the same station described a shooting in which the victim left the area before police arrived and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Albany Medical Center. The investigation was ongoing, and no suspect information was available at the time.
A Pattern of Gunfire Near the Same Intersection
Other shootings reported near the same stretch of Troy further illustrate how frequently the area has drawn police response, even though the evidence does not tie them to Monday's incident. A Sunday-afternoon shooting near 7th Avenue and Glen Avenue left one victim struck in the upper arm, the station reported. WNYT likewise reported a Sunday-afternoon shooting in the same area, saying a male victim was struck in the upper arm and taken to a hospital.
Separately, NEWS10 reported a Tuesday-night shooting near Glen and 7th avenues at approximately 8:30 p.m., describing a man hit in the chest by gunfire who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. That station also reported a Friday shooting in the same area that left two men in their 20s dead and another person seriously injured, according to a separate NEWS10 account. None of these reports establish whether any of the incidents are linked to one another or to Monday's shooting.
Troy's Broader Crime Numbers for 2025
The repeated gunfire near Glen and 7th avenues comes even as city officials have pointed to improving crime statistics overall. Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello said violent crime in the city dropped 23% in 2025 compared with 2024, and fell 27% below the five-year average, according to Spectrum News. Total crime in the city was down 15% from 2024, Mantello said.
Mantello also said shootings in Troy dropped 39% in 2025, while shots-fired incidents fell 17%. Police seized 138 illegal guns over the course of the year, she said. Those figures are citywide totals reported by the mayor and are not specific to the Glen and 7th avenues area.
In a post on X, the Troy Police Department said, “There will be a police presence at the scene while we investigate,” though it was not specified which incident the statement referenced. Troy Police have not released any suspect description or further updates on Monday's shooting, and the investigation remains open.
