A truck struck a mixed-use building in Menomonee Falls around 6:30 p.m. Friday, damaging the corner where Pink Lemonade Salon & Spa operates. The salon was closed at the time. The driver was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, and no one else was injured.

The impact left the building’s corner structurally compromised, the Menomonee Falls Fire Department said, according to a TMJ4 News report. A restoration company stabilized the section before the truck could be removed. Occupants of the mixed-use residential and commercial building were displaced until it could be deemed stable.

Salon Owner Grateful Amid the Damage

Pink Lemonade Salon & Spa owner Jamie Kolatzki said she was relieved no one was hurt and hoped the driver was okay. The salon would remain closed Monday, she told the station: “We are for sure closed on Monday.” She said the business might be able to operate without windows if the building was safe.

Kolatzki said displaced occupants had places to stay and community support, and she expected them to return once the building was cleared as safe. Hairstylist Jordan Robinson described glass scattered across the scene and a light pole knocked down and nearly bent. She said the timing worried her because the holidays are the salon’s busiest season.

A Neighbor Reflects on a Close Call

Chrissy Shepard, owner of neighboring business Just Kiln Time, was inside with several customers when the truck hit. Shepard said she believed the driver had suffered a medical emergency and noted that the crash could have struck her business while customers were inside if it had happened at another moment.

Building clearance and another Wisconsin crash

The Village of Menomonee Falls says its Building Inspection Division inspects residential and non-residential construction and alteration projects for compliance with applicable codes and requirements. The Village describes fire inspectors as identifying fire-code violations and advising responsible parties on correcting them; its published description does not characterize that routine inspection role as a structural reentry determination. A separate incident documented by the Madison Fire Department on Oct. 4, 2024, involved a vehicle crashing into a hair salon at 3526 Monroe Street. Firefighters found no structural damage; the driver was not taken to the hospital, while a customer was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

Kolatzki and Robinson said the salon had received community support. The reopening timeline remains dependent on the building being determined safe for residents and businesses to return.
