A car slammed into a house on Dauntless Drive in north Harris County Thursday afternoon, and the two men inside left the vehicle as deputies searched for them. The vehicle came to rest just north of Beltway 8 along Bammel North Houston Road, as deputies looked for surveillance footage.
Crash Reported Around 2 P.M.
Harris County Precinct 4 officials told FOX 26 Houston that the crash was reported around 2 p.m. Thursday. By 4 p.m., deputies were still combing the area for surveillance footage that might show the two male suspects, who were reportedly seen abandoning the vehicle while wearing dark clothing.
Officials have classified the wreck as a failure-to-stop-and-give-information crash. It remains unclear whether anyone was injured or even inside the home at the time of the impact, and the identities of the two men have not been released.
A Familiar Scene for Harris County Deputies
Cars plowing into houses isn't a new problem for Precinct 4. In a separate incident near Atascocita, a vehicle crashed into a home on a Saturday, and deputies responded to a major crash on the 2022 block of Misty Pines Drive in northwest Harris County, according to ABC13. Images shared by Precinct 4 officials from that crash showed a GMC vehicle that had crashed through the front of the house, and the station reported minor injuries were reported there, with the investigation still listed as ongoing.
Another crash recorded by ABC13's SkyEye13 helicopter showed a car striking a home in northwest Harris County, after which a juvenile driver and a juvenile passenger were taken to the hospital. None of those ABC13 reports include information tying them to Thursday's crash on Dauntless Drive, but they underscore how often these collisions turn up on Precinct 4's call sheet.
Investigation Continues
For now, the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office is the only agency that has spoken publicly about the Dauntless Drive crash, and no arrests have been announced. Deputies are expected to keep reviewing nearby surveillance cameras as they try to identify the two men who left the scene on foot.
