Kenosha police referred charges against a suspect after a pursuit that began in Kenosha and continued into Illinois, the Lake and McHenry County Scanner reported. The referred charges include burglary, battery, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, fleeing, and second-degree recklessly endangering safety. The suspect’s identity has not been publicly released.
The Scanner reported that both occupants surrendered without further incident and were taken to the Winthrop Harbor Police Department. Kenosha Police Department Lieutenant Adam Jurgens said one suspect was arrested after the pursuit; the article said the second occupant’s potential charges were unknown. Zion Police Department Lieutenant Derek Zaloudek said he did not know whether a gun was recovered. Country Herald also reported that the driver was taken into custody without further incident.
The Scanner reported that Winthrop Harbor officers deployed tire-deflation devices on Sheridan Road just south of the state line at the request of Wisconsin authorities. Jurgens said the devices deflated two tires on the white Nissan Pathfinder, which became disabled near 19th Street and Sheridan Road in Zion. Country Herald also reported that Winthrop Harbor officers assisted and that local officers used tire-deflation devices during the pursuit.
The pursuit followed a Kenosha police response to a report that a 45-year-old man had entered a home on the 1600 block of 53rd Street and battered a woman, according to the Scanner. Officers located a suspect in a vehicle and began pursuing it. Jurgens said officers continued into Illinois after receiving information that the suspect might have a firearm; the pursuit reached a reported 100 mph.
Pleasant Prairie Police Department Chief David Selvidge said his department assisted Kenosha officers, the Scanner reported. Zaloudek said Zion police were advised that both Nissan occupants were wanted in connection with the home invasion and that at least one might be armed.
