A man who answered to the name Larry allegedly struck a victim in the head with an unknown object inside a home in the 3900 block of Park Heights Avenue on Sept. 17, leaving a large gash that required numerous stitches to close. Months later, the suspect remains missing, and now federal agents have joined the hunt.
Baltimore Police responded to the Park Heights Avenue home after a 911 call reporting the assault, according to WBFF. The victim told officers that a man named Larry had struck him in the head, causing a large gash that required numerous stitches at the hospital, the station reports.
Investigators ran a database search and identified Larry Donnell Coleman, who lives in the area, as a possible suspect, per the same report. Several days later, police showed the victim a photo of Coleman, and he identified him as his attacker.
Warrant Issued, Then a Trail Goes Cold
Authorities issued a warrant for Coleman's arrest soon after, but months later, his whereabouts remain unknown, the station notes. The U.S. Marshals Service has now joined the search for Coleman in connection with the assault, according to the outlet's reporting. The report describes Coleman, now 56, as wanted for aggravated assault.
The agency’s work often includes people wanted on state and local warrants, not just federal charges. In fiscal 2025, the Marshals Service arrested or cleared 73,323 fugitives, including 44,790 sought by state or local authorities, and its arrests cleared 58,334 state and local warrants, the agency’s fugitive-apprehension fact sheet says.
The search draws on a regional partnership rather than a stand-alone federal case: the Marshals’ Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force works with more than 100 federal, state and local agencies and has an office in Baltimore. The task force began operating in 2004 and has apprehended more than 102,700 fugitives since then, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
The case echoes another ongoing Maryland's Most Wanted search WBFF has covered involving a different man, Renake Coleman, 34, who is wanted on a half dozen charges including assault, robbery, theft and handgun-related violations tied to a September 2025 incident. In that unrelated case, a victim reported that Renake Coleman pushed him to the ground and stole his handgun after an argument that stemmed from a misunderstanding, and the U.S. Marshals Service said the stolen firearm had not been recovered, warning that the fugitive should be considered armed and dangerous.
A Long Record Tied to Larry Donnell Coleman
Online court records reviewed by the outlet show a criminal history for Larry Donnell Coleman dating back to the 1990s, including arrests for battery, a weapons violation and theft. He was later arrested in the early 2000s for felony drug crimes and was sentenced to prison in at least two cases, the same records indicate.
Court records also show Coleman violated probation, including in 2005, and was sentenced to five years in prison as a result. In 2010, he was arrested for first-degree rape and was later convicted of first-degree assault, receiving a 10-year sentence, according to the report. After his release, court records show additional arrests for burglary and fraud.
Anyone with information about Coleman's whereabouts is asked to contact the U.S. Marshals Service at 202-819-5058.
