A 21-year-old Victorville woman is facing DUI charges after authorities say her car slammed into an occupied apartment building on Tuesday night, November 3, 2026, leaving a child with a knee laceration that required hospital treatment. Naomi Smith was booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, with bail set at $250,000.
According to VVNG, Smith was driving a gray Mazda 3 when it collided with the occupied apartment building in the 14000 block of Rodeo Drive. Victorville Station deputies had responded to the area of Pebble Beach Drive and Riviera Drive on Tuesday night, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department provided information about the incident.
Child Hurt Inside the Apartment
A child who was inside the apartment at the time of the crash suffered a laceration to the knee, the report notes, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Booking records reviewed by the outlet reportedly list two charges against Smith: driving under the influence of alcohol causing bodily injury under California Vehicle Code section 23153(a), and driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent or higher causing bodily injury under section 23153(b). Those provisions are outlined in the California Vehicle Code.
Court Date Set for This Week
Smith is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court, Department NF, on Thursday at 8 a.m. Case records, when available, can typically be checked through the Superior Court of California, County of San Bernardino. No appearance result, plea, or case outcome has been reported.
The crash adds to a string of recent DUI-related incidents reported in the Victorville area. Just days earlier, on October 30, authorities arrested a 33-year-old Adelanto man, Daniel Zamarripamurillo, on suspicion of DUI after a crash at Mojave Drive and Amargosa Road that the outlet says was reported at approximately 11:57 p.m. In that case, the report states he drove into opposing traffic and struck another vehicle, and the woman driving that car was taken to a hospital, though the extent of her injuries was not provided. A separate case reported by KTLA involved a 35-year-old Victorville woman arrested for DUI and child endangerment after her 7-year-old daughter was allegedly left unrestrained in the car.
