A Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to robbing a Bank of Princeton branch in Voorhees at gunpoint last year, admitting he handed a teller a note demanding $50,000 in cash but fled with only $1,760. Phu V. Nguyen, of Fairless Hills, entered his guilty plea in federal court on Thursday, more than a year after authorities say he walked into the bank wearing a face mask and all black clothing.

A Note, a Gun and a Quick Getaway

According to NJ.com, Nguyen entered the Bank of Princeton on Route 73 in Voorhees on June 27, 2025, and approached a teller with a demand. As reported by Daily Voice, the note read, “This is a robbery. Give me all 100’s, $50,000, I have a gun.” The teller handed over $1,760 — a small fraction of what Nguyen had asked for.

Nguyen then turned to a second bank employee and told her to open her drawer, the same account notes. He lifted his shirt to reveal a black handgun tucked into his waistband before fleeing the bank. Authorities allege he displayed the weapon but never pointed it during the encounter, according to NJ.com.

Arrest in Pennsylvania Followed Weeks Later

Nguyen, identified by Daily Voice as 36 years old, was tracked down in Pennsylvania roughly a week after the robbery. NJ.com reported that U.S. Marshals took him into custody on the 200 block of Easton Road in Horsham on July 3, 2025, while the Courier Post reported the arrest of a man it described as 35 also happened on July 3.

The case was investigated by the FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office, South Jersey Resident Agency, with assistance from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, per the same Daily Voice account.

Guilty Plea and What Comes Next

Nguyen pleaded guilty to armed bank robbery on Wednesday, admitting he robbed the Voorhees bank at gunpoint, authorities said. He now faces a maximum of 25 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and five years of supervised release, according to Daily Voice. His sentencing has been scheduled for March 10, 2027.
