Washington is waking Thursday to light rain, but the District is still headed for a surprisingly warm high near 75 degrees. Skies will stay mostly cloudy, with scattered showers possible and a warm southerly breeze making this feel more like early fall than November.
Warm, Windy Thursday Gives Way To Overnight Showers
Scattered showers are possible during the day, with south winds near 12 mph and gusts up to 22 mph. Rain is expected to develop Thursday night, when showers could bring 0.25 to 0.50 inch of rain and temperatures settle near 62 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers should be most noticeable in the morning before a lull develops later Thursday. The updated outlook is a substantive shift from Hoodline's earlier forecast, with the wettest stretch now focused on Thursday night into Friday.
Friday Keeps Showers And Fog In Play
Friday brings another round of rain and low clouds into the afternoon, with conditions improving later and a high near 70 degrees. Friday night turns cooler, with lows in the upper 30s to upper 40s.
No watches, warnings or advisories are listed for the District, but wet roads and reduced visibility could still make for a slower Friday morning. The rain threat should ease as the system moves offshore Friday night.
Weekend Turns Cooler, Then Sunny
Saturday will feel noticeably more seasonal, with breezy west-to-northwest flow, gusts of 15 to 25 knots, and a high near 62 degrees. Saturday night drops to about 45 before Sunday brings mostly sunny skies and a high near 63, with generally drier conditions.
Dry weather continues into next week, with highs in the low-to-mid 60s Monday, upper 60s to low 70s Tuesday and highs in the 50s to low 60s on Veterans Day. Overnight lows will mostly sit in the low-to-mid 40s, a reminder that the recent run of 70-degree afternoons is finally losing its grip.
