A child checking the mail near Somerville ran for safety Wednesday afternoon after two men in a white van pulled up nearby, escaping unharmed in an encounter that has triggered a formal investigation by Burleson County law enforcement. A nearby resident later told authorities the same vehicle was spotted lingering in the area again.
The child was heading back inside after retrieving mail on Nov. 4 when the van approached, according to KBTX. The outlet reports the child got away by running, avoiding any physical harm, and that both occupants of the van were described as white men with brown hair. Burleson County detectives are actively reviewing the incident, the station notes, and have asked residents to check their own property cameras, smart doorbells, and vehicle dashcams for anything useful.
Neighbor Reports Van Returning to the Area
Beyond the initial encounter, a resident near Somerville later reported seeing the same van lingering nearby, per the same KBTX account. That follow-up sighting has added urgency to the search for information.
According to Valley Voice, investigators have not publicly established what the vehicle's occupants intended, and the reported encounter remains under investigation. The outlet also noted separate child-safety concerns reported in the Park Road 4 and Somerville Place neighborhood, but stressed that no connection has been established between those reports and Wednesday's incident.
