One person is dead and another is injured after a shooting at an apartment complex in northwest Houston's Willowbrook area on Halloween night. Houston police said the gunfire broke out a little after 7:30 p.m. Saturday at a complex on Willow Chase near Highway 249.
According to KHOU, two people were shot, with one of them dying from their injuries. Police had not said what led to the shooting as of Saturday night, and investigators also had not released the condition of the surviving victim. KHOU 11 staff noted the story would be updated as more details become available.
No Word Yet on What Sparked the Gunfire
The shooting adds to a string of violence that has rattled the Willowbrook corridor this year. In a separate incident, Houston police said a man was shot and killed on a Tuesday in the Willowbrook area, according to a report from Yahoo News. That shooting happened on Grant Road just off SH 249 around 12:45 p.m., and investigators said at the time that it may have been a drive-by, since witnesses reported seeing a small black vehicle speeding away from the scene.
In that earlier case, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the report noted it remained unclear whether anyone else was hurt, per the same account. A KHOU search listing separately describes a man killed in a shooting at a northwest Houston apartment complex on February 24, 2026, though it is not established whether that report refers to the same Grant Road shooting.
A Different, Earlier Case at Willow Place Drive
Willowbrook has also been the site of other serious cases that remain distinct from Saturday's shooting. The Houston Police Department announced in a news release that a fifth suspect, 20-year-old Aniyah Sonya Martinez, was charged with capital murder in the 176th Criminal District Court in connection with a fatal shooting on March 1, 2025, at 8301 Willow Place Drive. That case, detailed by the Houston Police Department, is unrelated to the shooting reported Saturday night.
As of now, police have not released the identities of either victim from Saturday's Willow Chase shooting, nor any information about a suspect or possible motive. KHOU 11 staff said the story will be updated as more information becomes available.
