"The Castro used to be the best place," said owner Imad Bitar of the neighborhood's struggling retail landscape.

Plans for housing at the site have stumbled for more than two years, so a real-estate agency is hoping to move in instead.

The building is set to be delivered to the buyer vacant.

A storefront space "will help us be more visible and accessible to the community," the CBD's executive director said.

The upscale Mexican restaurant only opened last December.

Twin Peaks Market has opened in 18th Street's long-vacant Fenway Market space, and will soon offer pizza as well.

'Sugar Castro' would be the Castro's second proposed cannabis dispensary in 2018.

It's one of three new gyms planning to open in the Castro by year's end.
