The 600 block of Commercial Street in Chinatown will be renamed “Emperor Norton Place,” in honor of San Francisco’s greatest Victorian-era icon and eccentric, Emperor Joshua Norton.

The noodle wars are coming back, as the street food festival Noodle Fest will pit 29 North Beach and Chinatown restaurants against one another in a noodle contest with celebrity judges Martin Yan, Soleil Ho, and Broke-Ass Stuart.

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a relief measure that would pay ailing Chinatown restaurants nearly $2 million to serve up meals for their neighbors in need.

On the anniversary of 9/11, Chinatown remembers the heroine who first alerted the nation to the plane hijackings.

"The secret to longevity is love and care," said CCDC executive director Norman Fong.

The rehabilitated property is the first of four projects by the Chinatown Community Development Center.
