Whether you're a regular two-wheeled commuter or just a little bike-curious, consider tomorrow your Christmas. It's Bike to Work Day, or as we like to think of it, Critical Mass for people with jobs.

The event, which brought out a whopping 150,000 cyclists last year (whoa, really?), is a chance to ditch your car for a day, reduce your carbon footprint, and get a little much-needed exercise. Just for a day though -- don't panic. Lower Haight residents can join the District 5 Commuter Convoy, which departs from Sacred Grounds on Hayes and Clayton at 7:45am -- a little early in our book, but maybe we're not the target demo here. Unlike last year though, the convoy won't be led by Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, who will be out of town. There will also be Energizer Stations around town providing free snacks, coffee (fair trade, of course), and "convenient reusable tote bags for future commutes." And all month long, you can get tons of discounts in Hayes Valley just by showing your helmet or bike lock key. [Man, all that swag just for riding your bike to work for one day? We ride Muni every day, and we don't get so much as hand sanitizer -- which we could definitely use after riding Muni, incidentally. -Editor] So... anybody planning on participating tomorrow? Anybody done it in years past? Tell us your tales.
