A pedestrian was hit by a car around 12:30am last night on Divisadero near Page, and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Few details have been released, but according to SF Appeal, the victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital after the accident, and police say the driver stayed at the scene. Neither the driver nor the pedestrian has been identified. A Haighteration reader saw the scene shortly after the accident, when her companion "heard a huge impact but wasn't sure what it was." She described it to us thusly: "looks like something was hit, pretty bloody and lots of cops." We'll update this story with any additional information. Update 11:30am: KTVU now reports that the victim, a 26-year-old male, is now expected to survive. He was jaywalking, according to the report, when he was struck by a 2008 black Chevy Cobalt. 'I saw some guys j-walk and one of them was the one hit. We also heard one of them scream "you're an asshole" to [a] car, as they j-walked, and it happened to be a cop car, next thing on the opposite side of the road he got ran over.'If there are any further details, we'll update accordingly.
