Hey all you smart food-and-business people: the former El Balazo storefront at 1654 Haight is up for lease.
When it closed its doors unexpectedly last month, everyone was pretty startled. We've been peeking in periodically, and in the meantime it looks like the ADA upgrades to the space (fitting it with a lift to make it wheelchair accessible) are still underway. And now, about a month after the closure, signs are up out front announcing the space is up for lease. So attention potential restaurateurs--this could be you! The Haight needs some sharp new food people to help decide what's going to land in the neighborhood. We're especially curious to see what goes in because Balazo was very dear to our hearts. So, what's it gonna be? And to anyone looking for some viable ideas: you might find some over here, where we polled the hood to see what people actually want. What about it, guys?
