Haight Street Market Gets a New Wine Buyer
The Haight Street Market's newest weapon in its arsenal of gastronomical relevance is its wine buyer, Guillome.

A geographer by training ("I do maps, but I also know wine," he said yesterday), Guillome has been at the Haight Street Market for about a month now, and he's got big big plans to remake the wine selection. He said he's started slowly, with the store's selection of French wines, but plans to supplement and refine the store's selection of California wines as he gets to taste and know them better. He's already got a slew of French favorites and if you catch him some time (you can often spot him culling the selection) he's happy to point them out to you, talk about what you like and make some recommendations. Guillome said the focus of the store's wine selection is to cover most of the big California labels, like Ridge and Frog's Leap, and higher-end foreign and domestic wines, but also to cover a diversity of labels and regions, and to provide some great wines at a good price.
