Supervisor
Scott Wiener has pushed forward with his agenda to wipe nudity out of the Castro by proposing new laws and regulations to the Board of Supervisors. The State of California already has laws in place dealing with lewd and lascivious behavior that aren't being enforced but could be used on those who become aroused, draw attention to their genitals with the use of cock rings or bedazzled junk wear. Why is this proposed law better than those already passed by our State Legislature? How is creating a two tiered system of nudity (legal if done during a street festival, parade or on the beach, but illegal if on a street) anything more than targeted discrimination? Where do you stand and are there possibilities for compromise?
Our City was once famed for it's tolerance, open-mindedness and embracing all comers who stood outside the circle of rigid American conformity, but, as rabid gentrification has swelled it's population this once bastion of unusual, this 'freak zone' is at risk of becoming as cautious and conservative as parts of Kansas. Where does the future of San Francisco ideology of 'freedom for all' stand today?
We here at the Castro Biscuit are interested in what you think. Weigh in on our comment section. Please keep it civil and respectful.
