There's a photo exhibit coming to the Harvey Milk Photo Center this month, and it's got a lot to do with the Haight.
In case you don't recall, the Harvey Milk Photography Center is that little brick building at the top of Duboce Park. And from January 19th to March 23, they'll be showing a catalog of work taken during the turbulent '60s and '70s. The exhibit is called "Black Power * Flower Power," and features the work of Pirkle Jones and Ruth-Marian Baruch. As the name promises, it features photography of Panthers, Hippies, and all the rest of the gang. The center is at 50 Scott Street, and the opening reception is from 1 to 4 PM on Saturday, January 19th. This is a great chance to get a little more intimate with the neighborhood's colorful past, should you be so inclined.
