We are bringing native California plants for our rain garden, and have selected species that should thrive in the partly shady, damp conditions. The initial (re)planting of an area like this is very exciting, and when you visit the park in the future, you will be able to see the plants you put in the ground grow and mature.Additionally, as you might remember, the paths at Ashbury were badly damaged, after years of poor drainage and service vehicles creating ruts. The path on the west side has been windened and repaved, but the east side path has not, since it's not accessible to service vehicles. Well, now there's been some grass replanted at the rough edges, and some fences will be in place for a few weeks to let the new grass develop. And remember, the Stewards have a workday on the second Saturday of every month. They meet at 9 a.m. near the playground.
