Update from the Merchant Beat
Genesis Imports, as you know, is on its way out. We stopped in to snoop around.

They're closing on the 27th of this month. They've been in the space at 1753 Haight for a whopping 17 years. We wish them well! They're having a going-out-of-business sale over there, though it's already starting to look pretty bare. The giant wood tree sculpture that used to sit just inside the door is gone, but its younger cousin is still up for grabs:
That gorgeous coffee table next to it? Sold.
As for the 2,885 square ft. lot, owner Sam Sirhed is looking to rent it out. It's not quite on the market yet, as far as we can tell, but he has taken out some building permits, so there will probably be some renovations before it's fit to rent. Sam Sirhed also owns Burger Urge's building, and the space that houses Behind Closed Doors.
