Noir Lounge Soft-Opens at Former Frjtz SpaceFacebook/Noir Lounge
Noir Lounge is finally allowing the public to experience its complete overhaul of the former Frjtz space at 581 Hayes. Serving wine, beer, and small bites, the speakeasy-inspired lounge is looking to feel at home in the heart of the neighborhood.

The space, which softly-opened on Saturday, is nearly unrecognizable from what we fondly recall of our days at Frjtz. The dark wood floors, desaturated blue walls, and pops of red and gold décor echo the era reflected in the bar's name. The film noir period offers rich architectural cues, from the large Art Deco domed ceiling to the plush vintage seating and heavy wooden tables. We've seen several delays in Noir's opening, and as Eater notes, a large part of the wait is in anticipation of a new chef to take the reins. In the meantime, Noir is offering fun fare in the form of macaroni & cheese as well as freshly-made popcorn, complementing their intent to screen old films on the enormous display in the back. We can expect the soft open to provide service in the evenings, tentatively between 3pm and midnight. Noir is currently serving an impressive beer and wine list, and the soft open has been coinciding nicely with the kickoff of the 2013 season of Giants baseball. The first two games have been shown on a flat screen in the front of the bar (cleverly set with a large frame to fit the décor), as well as in the screening lounge.
