Guess who's applying now.
Yesterday we spotted a petition at Sunrise Deli asking people to sign if they wanted a parklet out front. It had a healthy amount of signatures, and the staff seemed really excited at the prospect. We know their building shares some common area with Stanza next door, and that Stanza's always had their eye on bigger things, so we asked if the parklet was for both storefronts. Our contact at Sunrise told us that he didn't have current information on Stanza's involvement, but that he was pretty sure they were trying to take up the two spaces that would extent into Stanza's storefront. Stanza would get some action regardless. We also reached out to our Stanza contact to find out if they were in on the application or development of the parklet. Our source said there was talk of a parklet collaboration between the businesses in the past, but Stanza hasn't been involved in the new effort. This is the second new parklet application since Martin Macks' was flagged for removal. What do you think? Do you use the parklet in front of Gus's? Would you use one on the shady side of the street? UPDATE: Another contact at Stanza tells us that the parklet IS a collab between Sunrise and Stanza, and that Stanza will be facilitating the actual construction.
