Ever wonder what the end of Haight Street looked like way back when? Here's what.

Every once in a while we enjoy a nice little library archive binge and try to image what the 'hood used to look like. This is what we found on record for the intersection of Haight and Stanyan, facing east. So this is what it looked like November 23, 1906. Crazy, huh? This is what it looked like in 1940:

We were surprised that one of the biggest differences is the lower-profile storefronts today than over 100 years ago. So think about THAT next time you walk by the end of the park, will you.
