Dutch Door Press is a small letterpress design company in the basement of that magnificent Victorian manse at 1550 Page (corner of Ashbury). They have a new book out with Chronicle this spring, which is a glorious, tidy little collection of illustrations of the state birds and flowers. It is called "Birds & Blooms of the 50 States." You can get it at the Booksmith, where we can sell them to you personally, or at any number of other fine book shops here and there. We'd like to say "congratulations" to Dutch Door Press. And if you're feeling fondly, you can say "congratulations" personally, tomorrow, May 9 from 7 to 9 PM at Rare Device, 600 Divisadero. There you'll be able to see the book, meet Mara and Anna (the brains and talent of Dutch Door Press), and see the letterpress prints available for sale, which will be on display until June 6.
