It's just one and a half short weeks until Outside Lands 2013, and we've got a preview of our personal favorite Day 1 acts.
As always, the full lineup is available for perusal. This is just a snapshot of our personal favorites. At 8PM, Chromatics will be reigning the stage. Chromatics are chic, straight-faced Italodisco virtuosos, masters of stripped-down rainy night soundtracks that drift somewhere in the territories between desire, fear and desolation. They ride the curve between the comeup and the comedown. This is the title track from last year's LP, Kill For Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0mxXrHowHQ You can buy most of their swag directly from Italians Do It Better. Jessie Ware (3:30) looks promising, too, sort of a sultry-voiced loungey groove-out that echoes 90's pop with a nouveau twist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA5yP9jM5DE&feature=c4-overview&list=UUisgqJFEjW68P8GdxZNP5aA And of course, The National (5PM) is bound to get some love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFnA-8H-5lo Other acts bound to get some splash are Rhye (4:45), and Yeasayer (7PM). Any bets who's going to steal the show?
