Photography Tour of the HaightDick Evans
Dick Evans, photographer and Haight Ashbury enthusiast, will be leading his second Photography adventure around the 'hood next month.

After publishing his book, San Francisco and the Bay Area: The Haight Ashbury Edition, he was approached by several photographers asking if he'd be willing to lead a tour. He was. With the help of Ed Woods, the first photography tour was born last summer. Since then, he's done several events, including a recent exhibition at the Apple store downtown. The first photography expedition was such a success that they're bringing it back. This year's tour will be on August 11th, starting at 2:30 at Booksmith. You can see the details here. If you're interested, there are only 14 slots, so get in there before it fills up. The whole shebang will run you $69. We asked Dick what it is about the Haight that inspired him to focus his first book in the area. "I chose the Haight for the photography book because of its colorful past and the interesting murals, people and architecture that abound there." He hopes to bring out the history of the neighborhood through his photos. You can check out the book here, or at Booksmith, and you can see more of Dick's photos (not limited to the Haight) over on his publisher's website. Happy shooting!
