It's Gnome Week at Biergarten
Did you know it's Gnome Week? We didn't either.

The event is an invention of Belgian brewery La Chouffe. Legend has it that Belgium's "last surviving gnome" gave La Chouffe's founders his secret beer recipe way back in 1981, when the brewery began. Gnome Week is a way of celebrating said gnome -- and La Chouffe itself, of course. Beginning last week and continuing until this Saturday, Biergarten will be tapping Houblon Chouffe, the brewery's signature Tripel IPA. And on Friday, Biergarten will join 200 other bars around the country in raising 99 mini-mugs of the beer -- accompanied by one of the brewery's founders, Chris Bauweraerts -- in what they're dubbing the "World's Smallest Toast." Biergarten is open 3pm to 9pm Wednesday thru Saturday, and 1pm to 7pm on Sundays. Friday's Gnome Week toast is scheduled for 6:66pm, which we assume means 7:06pm. But it may actually mean 6pm. In any event, get there early.
