Friday is here, and here's what's going on in the 'hood this weekend.
First, San Francisco's annual citywide literary festival, Litquake, kicks off today, and there are dozens of events going on all over the city. Check the schedule out here. Then, tomorrow in Buena Vista Park, Kevin Feinstein is hosting a wild edibles foraging seminar and walk through the park. Learn what's poisonous, what's not, and learn more about the plants you walk by every day. 11 AM to 1 PM, $40. Saturday afternoon is also BYOQ (Bring Your Own Queer), a free queer dance party, at the music concourse in Golden Gate Park. If you've got a spare hour or two, this is amazing. BYOQ turns the music concourse into a dance party, and featured performers and DJs this year include SF electrohop duo Double Duchess (!). If you're planning ahead for Halloween, check out the Haunted Haight tour, which you can take between October 25th and October 31st (except Monday the 28th). Get a ticket! Make a reservation! See some spooky Victorians and hear ghost stories. And then there's, you know, sun-hunting in the park, brunch (have you tried Sparrow yet?), nursing that hangover with a beer on your favorite patch of grass ...
