Mendels is at its heart a family run business and I truly believe that it shows in the way we treat our employees, our customers and how much we are a part of our neighborhood. Bette Mosias took the store over from her dad, Mendel, in 1979 and has been an unforgettable face and force in the store. On Monday, Bette stopped fighting breast cancer and while surrounded by loved ones she took her last breath. We are all sad and yet take comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain. The show must go on, but we will be closed this Sunday to give our employees the opportunity to attend a celebration of her life. Thank you for your understanding. The business will be taken over by Mosias's niece, who's been working there with her. Mendel's will be closed on Sunday for a memorial to Bette's life from 12-5. It's at her house, and if you're interested in attending, get in touch with Mendel's for details. We'll keep her family and friends in our thoughts.
