Weekend Odds & Ends: Pre-Halloween
A couple of warnings, some goings on and a weekend.

First, we wanted to let you know that we've been hearing some continued concern about a rape on lower Page street a few weeks back. Our brethren at Haighteration reported the story initially, but in the meantime we haven't heard any progress or further reports from the SFPD. What we have heard is that the woman raped was stalked down Page Street late at night, and that word has been getting out to the waitstaff of local bars and restaurants, but not to the general public. So BE CAREFUL. Second, another warning: following our story about the history of Buena Vista Park and the recycled tombstones, we heard from a reader whose dog overdosed on drugs after surreptitously picking up feces in the park. The reader reported that the local animal hospital, where the dog was taken after showing obvious effects of unusual substances, already knew Buena Vista Park as a dangerous place for dogs, with a high concentration of drugs lying around. So, again, caution. In other news: today at 5:30 at Justin Herman Plaza, Critical Mass will be getting their Halloween bicycle ride on. Look out for lots of monsters and robots on bicycle! On the merchant beat, we've got news that Denver-based HoodLAB (importers of Dutch hempwear) will be opening their shop next week at 1669 Page (formerly the sunglasses shop floored in Astroturf). Oh, and don't forget to get your Halloween costume lined up.
