More Sidewalk Gardens Installed
Over the weekend, the sidewalks of Waller Street got a little more lively, with the installation of some new gardens.

The project was led by Friends of the Urban Forest, who recruited local volunteers to help install the new plantings at Waller and Fillmore. The gardens are both aesthetically pleasing and functional; the permeable pavement helps absorb rainwater during storms. (Hey, remember storms?) Back in July, we explained how you could get one of these here sidewalk gardens installed outside your very own home or storefront. If your block is deemed eligible, all it takes is $160 for a permit. Click on the link above for more information. Oh, and if you're interested in learning more about the city's plan to maintain and expand its urban forest, consider attending this Wednesday night's open house at 6pm at the LGBT Community Center at 1800 Market.
