We've all been talking about the housing crisis currently going on in San Francisco. Evictions have skyrocketed, residents are evacuating, and city workers have declared that they can't afford to live here anymore. It sounds like all bad news everywhere for everyone.
Thinking locally, we're curious how it's affecting our Divisadero neighborhood. Here's where you come in. If you or someone you know is currently going through an eviction, or has recently been evicted from the Divisadero, North of the Panhandle, or Alamo Square Neighborhoods, we'd love to hear your story, as well as any interesting rental stories you might have. If you're interested shoot an email to nuala{at}hoodline{dot}com.
In the meantime, we did what anyone looking for a home would do. We turned to Craigslist. Here's what's on offer in our neighborhood right now ...

For those of you with pups, there's a two-bedroom apartment near Alamo Square for $3,299 (we're so tempted to add "and 99 cents" to the end of that). More info here.
This gorgeous 1 bedroom is on Fell between Cole and Clayton, and is on the market for $3,250. Perk: it's also pet friendly. More info here.

That old crumbling building on Grove and Broderick has been redone, and here's one of the apartments up for rent. Looks fancy, and it's one block from Divisadero. Residents must understand that "the goal is to create a mutally quiet and respectful community [sic]." 1 bedroom, rent $2700. Listing is over here.

Finally, this entire house is for rent on the corner of Alamo Square. It's 3 bedrooms for $9,500. This one's fancy enough to have its own website, as well as a craigslist listing.

From here, we'll turn the conversation over to you. With the obvious caveat that we'd all like to live rent-free, are these prices reasonable for our current economy? How have rising rents affected you personally? If you think it's a problem, what's the solution?
