Today we mash up a few weekend events and some beer-soaked leftovers into one tasty fiesta. Let's dig in.
Tonight, DSF (520 Haight) presents a reception for "UNEARTHED," a collection of new works by Oakland native Renee Castro. Castro's inspirations include "Mexican and Spanish folklore, broken-hearted femme fatales, disheveled muses, and erotic heroines." Tonight's opening runs from 7pm to 11pm.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Underground SF (424 Haight) hosts the monthly party known as Push The Feeling. Stones Throw's Chrome Canyon makes his SF DJ set debut, and Oakland-based disc trio Pale Blue Dot will be on hand for a live set, plus residents YR Skull and epicsauce DJs, of course. The event starts at 9pm, and is free before 10pm with RSVP ($6 otherwise).
On Sunday, head eastward a few blocks to Hayes Valley for the return of the Urban Air Market. The event, which recently established a Lower Haight version each October, has been a Hayes Valley presence for 10 years running. Local vendors and artisans galore will be on and around Patricia's Green, from 11am to 6pm Sunday.
And now for a few leftovers, all beer-related.
Last week, we told you about the campaign to raise money for Black Sands Brewery at 701 Haight. The brewery blew past its original goal in a day, and has now raised its sights in the hopes of adding outdoor seating and heaters. Those "free beer for life" memberships are still available, too. The campaign closes on May 21.
Do you know what "Noc Noc" means? If not, or even if so, check out this great article on the bar by Broke-Ass Stuart in the SF Bay Guardian.
And finally, an amusing Twitter account called @NotToronado has emerged recently, taking inspiration from Toronado's actual (often surly) tweets and spinning them in a positive way. To wit:
dude just went from a pliny to a radeburger. can he even taste it?

One of our customers this evening went from a Pliny to a Radeburger. Just another new friend enjoying our beers! Cheers everyone!

Cheers indeed. Happy weekend, folks.
