Let's close out the month with some tasty treats that almost ended up in our editorial compost bin this week.

Remember back in April when we told you about a new salon, David James, which had just opened at the corner of Fell and Fillmore? Well, tonight the salon is hosting its official grand opening party. Stop by 600 Fillmore any time between 6pm and 9pm for music, drinks, food, art, and more.
A Muni shelter at the northeast corner of Hermann and Fillmore was removed this week:

The shelter is one of dozens across the city being replaced with more modern versions. Also being replaced are shelters on the northwest corner of Haight and Laguna, and the southwest side of Haight and Buchanan.
As we approach the summer solstice and the days get ever longer, Duboce Park Cafe has just announced new summer hours. The cafe will be staying open until 9pm, an hour later than their normal closing time.
Speaking of food and summer, the culinary lineup for this August's Outside Lands festival in Golden Gate Park was announced this week, and a few local eateries – Rosamunde, Little Chihuahua, and Three Twins – made the list. Great news if you're lucky enough to have a ticket; the event is sold out.
Work on the buildout of Black Sands continued at the corner of Haight and Pierce this week, as the east-facing wall was partially knocked out to make room for some larger windows:

Artist Ian Ross has posted an album of photos of himself and fellow artist Max Ehrman and Cannon Dill painting the new mural at 435 Duboce earlier this month.
Finally, the Chronicle posted an interview yesterday with Brian Spiers, the developer behind plans for a new apartment building to replace the former Home restaurant at Church and Market. Spiers sounds optimistic about his chances of getting through the Planning Department gauntlet, and is aiming to have the project completed in 12-18 months.
