As the final hours of June tick down, let's take a look into our crystal ball and check out some highlights from the month ahead.
On July 1st (tomorrow), new owner Sun Hee Lee gets the keys to 518 Haight Street, formerly home to Greenburger's restaurant and more recently to the veggie-heavy pop-up Cool Beans. Still no word on exactly what Lee is planning for the location, but rest assured we're keeping an eye on it.
On Saturday July 5th, Underground SF hosts the release party for monthly music event Push the Feeling's first 12" compilation.
Tuesday July 8th marks the return of stand-up comedy event Haightian Democracy at Danny Coyle's.
Friday July 11th will see the latest public hearing at City Hall for the proposal to allot various parking spaces around the neighborhood (and beyond) to car share companies.
Also on July 11th, Fifty24SF will host the opening of a new show by Mexican artist Jesús Benítez. The exhibit, dubbed "Thesis," will be the artist's first solo show in North America.
On Sunday July 13th, the final match of the World Cup will begin at noon, and the neighborhood bars shall surely overfloweth.
Monday July 14th (Bastille Day, bien sûr) is the target opening date for cream puff bakery Choux at 254 Fillmore.
Starting some time in mid/late July, upgrades to tracks in the Sunset Tunnel will mean the closure of the N-Judah for 15 weekends over the following nine months or so.
On the evening of Saturday July 26th, plan to head down to Duboce Park for an outdoor screening of So I Married An Axe Murderer.
And finally, on Sunday July 27th, the SF Marathon will once again trot through the neighborhood.
And that's just some of the stuff we'll be keeping an eye on over the next few weeks. Should be a good month indeed.
