It's time yet again to celebrate everyone's favorite local beer bar, which means that lines, and the beer fans that wait in them, will likely appear on the sidewalk tomorrow morning.
Starting at 11:30am, Toronado hosts its 27th anniversary party, with special draft beers and bottles all day long, and perhaps a glimmer of good cheer from the bar's notoriously mercurial bartenders.
For the math-averse out there, Toronado opened way back in 1987, and upon its launch featured a paltry two beers on tap. Now it's an iconic beer mecca, with the thirsty masses flocking to 547 Haight Street to sample rare and highly-regarded brews from around the world. There have even been Toronado spin-offs, with an outpost opening in San Diego in 2008, and another opening just a few days ago in Seattle.
Two years ago, Russian River Brewing Company created a special Toronado 25th Anniversary Ale in the bar's honor. "This unique one of a kind beer is a blend of six different beers... the final blend was determined by Vinnie and Dave Keene, owner of the Toronado." The bar sold bottles of the brew at its 25th party, and tapped a keg of it at last year's celebration:

No word on whether it will be making another appearance this year.
The anniversary party is a popular annual event; two years ago it attracted a crowd that stretched down the block (pictured above), as did last year's edition. So, be patient; good beers come to those who wait.
