San Francisco is a constantly evolving city, and our Divisadero/NoPa/Alamo Square/Western Addition neighborhoods are no exception. Luckily, there's always space for you to voice your concerns, feedback and questions about the changes taking place. Here are a few upcoming neighborhood events to get involved with:
  • This Friday, September 5th marks the next step in the 5-Muni improvements along McAllister. If you need a refresh, we covered the proposed bulb-outs, traffic light installations, and stop changes when they were featured in an open house a few months ago.

There's a public hearing at City Hall this Friday to address the changes. Although no decisions will be made at this meeting, all official comments will be taken "on the record," so if you feel strongly about any of the issues pertaining to the 5-Muni it's a good time to express your thoughts. • Western Addition Sunday Streets is coming up on September 14th! More on that soon, but in the meantime, researchers would appreciate your help in a new study that seeks to understand how Sunday Streets influences residents’ perceptions of neighborhood open space.

On the Sundays of September 7th, September 14th, and Sept 21st, the survey will have participants walk around the designated neighborhood with a small tablet for survey-taking purposes. The whole process should take an hour. For more information, email liza {at} livablecity {{dot}} org.

If you're looking to get involved in the upcoming Sunday Streets as a volunteer, there are still quite a few positions that need filling. The next training session for volunteers is Wednesday, September 10th from 6:30-7:30pm in the Livable City Office at 433 Natoma Street (third floor).

  • Finally, NOPNA (North of the Panhandle Neighborhood Association) is hosting their monthly meeting on Thursday, September 18th from 7pm – 9pm. If you're concerned about recent shootings, want to help out with the next block party, or just want to meet your neighbors, NOPNA is a great resource for staying on top of local neighborhood news and for expressing your voice in the community.

That's what's on the docket for get-togethers in the neighborhood. We'll keep you posted if we learn of more opportunities to chime in.
